In a world flooded with media sources, facts are frequently submerged amidst ‘fake news’, spin, misinformation and, quite-often, good old-fashioned fear-mongering. Radio Nova's Fact Checker determines the accuracy of claims by public figures, advocacy groups, social media, and institutions engaged in public debate with a focus on issues affecting listeners in Dublin, Kildare, Meath & Wicklow. Radio Nova's news team of qualified and reputable journalists look at some of the stories that appeared in the week’s news (whether Irish or global news) and check claims made in the public domain by figures such as world leaders, politicians and advocacy groups against available data at the time they were made and in the interests of transparency. All sources relevant to the statements will be identified and statements will be deemed correct, incorrect or be de-bunked.

On this week's Radio Nova Fact Checker, we look at a post that claimed the EU is pressuring the Irish government to not call a general election until the new EU laws are running. However, the Journal points out have already that many of these laws had already been passed, not been presented or having little to do with the EU.
